Learning Objectives

The study programme for the first-level academic diploma of the School of Art Education aims to ensure adequate mastery of communication methods and techniques, as well as the acquisition of specific artistic and professional skills in order to provide learners with knowledge and methodologies for communicating and conveying how works of art are created, interpreted and enjoyed. The course specifically aims to train specialists capable of working flexibly in the field of visual art interpretation and communication and to develop – by acquiring appropriate critical and methodological tools – an aptitude for teaching artistic knowledge and languages that takes into account social and cultural changes and opportunities linked to technological development. Particular attention will also be paid to the acquisition of specific cultural, methodological and technological skills relating to the management of museum events, both in terms of external communication and hospitality, education and the connection between the exhibition itinerary and the various services offered by the facility. Graduates of the school’s diploma course must: – possess adequate technical and practical training in method and content in the fields of communication, museology and museography and art education; – possess adequate methodological and critical tools for the acquisition of skills relating to the expressive languages of the most advanced techniques and technologies; – be capable of effectively using at least one EU language, in addition to their mother tongue, in their main field of competence and for the exchange of general information; – possess knowledge of IT tools and telematic communication in their specific fields of competence.

Career prospects

First-level graduates will carry out professional activities in a variety of fields, focusing particularly on communication, either independently or alongside professionals from different areas of cultural heritage: organising and staging artistic events, developing museum educational programmes and activities, curating and designing communication materials for artistic events. Working with public and private organisations, the academies will arrange the most suitable work placements and apprenticeships to help students achieve specific professional qualifications.

Entry requirements

To enrol in the first-level course, applicants must hold a secondary school diploma or other qualification obtained abroad and recognised as suitable by the Academy in accordance with international agreements. The selection of candidates will be based on a written test, followed by an interview to assess cultural background and aptitude.

Type of final assessment

The final assessment to obtain the first-level academic diploma, after prior approval of the topic by the course coordinator, subject to prior approval of the topic by the Course Coordinator, consists of the discussion of a written paper on a methodological study related to a subject in the three-year study plan and a laboratory project related to teaching.
