During his school years, he studied piano, established himself as a DJ and trained as an audio/lighting/video technician, working with various service providers.
After leaving school, he continued his studies at the SNCI in Florence, taking courses in directing, editing and sound engineering, and graduating as a Documentary Technician and Audiovisual Recording Technician.
He subsequently obtained diplomas from the Rossellini Cine TV Institute in Rome and from ACT Multimedia in Cinecittà, and completed a Master’s in Sound Engineering at AAMOD Audiovisivo.
Even during his training, he began working as a live sound engineer, boom operator and mixing sound engineer in the field of film production and post-production for various production companies, collaborating with several internationally renowned directors. As a live sound engineer, he has worked on over 150 films, including ‘A Private Affair’ by the Taviani brothers, ‘Monte’ by Amir Naderi, winner of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Prize at the 73rd Venice Film Festival, ‘The Dew Point’ by Marco Risi, and the Netflix series ‘Sanpa’ by Cosima Spender. In 2013, he founded Sud Sound Studios, a film and television production and post-production company. As a sound mixing engineer, he has worked on over 100 films, including Mimmo Calopresti’s ‘Gianni Versace, l’imperatore dei sogni’, Giulio Base’s ‘Margherita delle stelle’, Simone Manetti’s ‘Marta, il delitto della sapienza’ for Netflix, and Jivan Avetisyan’s ‘Gate to Heaven’. Since 2018, he has been teaching audio and sound mixing at various film schools and national academies. In 2021, he founded Sud Sound Distribution, which to date has distributed more than 40 titles. In recent years, he has also specialised in the construction of professional post-production facilities and studios.
Course objectives
At the end of the course, students will have comprehensive knowledge of and practical skills in all aspects of the following topics.
Course content
Three series of workshops are planned, covering the following topics:
- Live sound in cinema, on TV and at live events. The difference between recording and setup. Theoretical and practical approach.
- Sound indoors from a technical and constructional perspective, whether in a cinema or a recording studio. Theoretical approach.
- Sound in both film and television post-production. Practical approach using Steinberg’s Nuendo software.
Examination methods
Three written tests will be held at the end of each workshop.
Final oral interview.
