Erasmus+ is an important project for the growth and success of our Academy at European level. By its very nature, artistic training is open to outside influences, exchanges and the sharing of knowledge; it is therefore only natural that our Academy should welcome any initiative that moves in this direction and encourages its development.
Erasmus+ makes this project possible and,through the mobility of both students and lecturers, facilitates a continuous exchange of experiences and ideas – the very soil in which art flourishese.
The Erasmus+ programme offers a range of opportunities for students, lecturers and administrative staff, whether they are going on exchange or hosting visitors. This programme therefore generates a continuous flow of exchanges with European institutions at the same level. The number of institutions with which we have bilateral agreements continues to grow, enabling us to share and learn from each other’s experiences. It is in diversity and collaboration that the greatest potential for growth lies, whether for the individual or for the institution as a whole.

Erasmus+ is divided into two categories for students: Erasmus+ Learning and Erasmus+ Traineeship.

Erasmus Learning offers students, through the award of a scholarship, the opportunity to study at another European university or institution for different periods and in different ways:

• for a semester or a year, taking exams abroad,
• a semester attending classes abroad but taking exams at their home institution,
• a shorter period taking the exams scheduled at their institution as per the study plan.

Erasmus+ Traineeship offers students the opportunity, during their studies, to prepare their degree thesis or after graduation, to gain specific professional experience at foreign institutions, companies or businesses in the student’s field of specialisation, for an indicative period of between three and six months.

Whichever option is chosen according to the student’s needs, these are important learning experiences for both the student and the institution, due to the enrichment that results when the student returns and shares their experience with colleagues.

Erasmus Teaching offers the opportunity, subject to agreement with the partner institution, to hold conferences, lectures or workshops at a foreign institution. These activities are also agreed upon with regard to the language in which they will be conducted.

Erasmus+ Traineeship is an opportunity for professional development and upskilling that lecturers can undertake at foreign institutions or companies specialising in their particular field.

Both are important learning experiences for those who undertake them and for the institution, due to the enrichment that results when the teaching staff return and share their experience with students and colleagues.

Erasmus Traineeship, which staff can undertake at foreign institutions, focuses on the professional dimension of knowledge acquisition and exchange with the explicit aim of creating a bridge of intercommunication between institutions and allowing the various offices to benefit from good practice.

The importance of the Erasmus+ project therefore lies in its bilateral nature, whereby our students are studying abroad while foreign students are studying with us. In other words, whilst the host institution offers the Erasmus student a different educational experience, it in turn benefits from the experiences the student shares with their colleagues. The same enrichment results from the exchange of teaching staff, whereby our students have the opportunity to learn about new experiences shared with them by our guest teachers.
Erasmus+ as a whole is therefore a time for growth, discussion and sharing, facilitated by the exchange of students and lecturers, which brings new ideas and experiences to our Academy and opens up new horizons for us. For students in particular, it can open up new professional avenues, including abroad.
