The Sculpture course aims to train individuals capable of developing an expressive technical awareness in the field of contemporary sculpture, in relation to the pluralism of languages and techniques relevant to the world of contemporary art. In the specific field of sculpture, practical experience is considered essential for understanding research methodology. The educational programme will be broadened by a considerable number of workshops, external laboratory activities, exhibitions, seminars, educational trips, participation in national and international competitions, and artist residencies. The international environment of the Academy of Fine Arts, bolstered by recent participation in European international projects, allows for ever greater exchange and openness for students attending the sculpture course. To be admitted to the course, applicants must hold a secondary school diploma or other qualification obtained abroad and recognised as suitable by the Academy of Fine Arts in accordance with international agreements. There is also an admission test for those who did not attend an art-focused secondary school.

Learning Objectives
The course of study for the first-level academic diploma of the School of Sculpture aims to develop artistic skills and qualified professionalism that take into account the pluralism of languages and innovations in the techniques that characterise the contemporary world. Students will be able to carry out their own individual research in the field of sculpture, focusing on traditional techniques and their development in the context of experimentation with new forms of expression. Graduates of the School’s diploma courses must possess adequate technical, operational, methodological and expressive mastery, as well as knowledge in the fields of sculptural research. The course will provide effective analytical and critical tools for the clear development of expressive language in space, form and plastic material. In view of the increasing exchange of information at international level and in order to be open to international institutional opportunities, students must acquire knowledge of at least one European Union language.
Given the latest developments in digital communication, students will need to develop their knowledge of the IT tools used by the institution..
Career prospects
Graduates of the School will be able to work in various fields, both as freelance artists and in the visual arts and creative industries, as well as collaborating, in a variety of fields, on the planning, design and implementation of sculptural research projects of various kinds and applications, with a particular focus on architecture, urban planning and public and private natural spaces. Students will be able to refine their practical experience in the field of restoration and new technologies, covering various areas of work, from design to practical implementation. In agreement with public and private bodies, the Academy will organise the most appropriate work placements and apprenticeships to help students achieve specific professional skills and will further define appropriate training programmes for each course of study.
