Learning Objectives
The course of study for the second-level Academic Diploma from the School of Art Education builds on the three-year training programme, defining the skills required to create professionals capable of designing and managing art therapy workshops throughout the territory, both in public and private facilities. The second-level training programme focuses on the relational aspects of art: a key element of contemporaneity. Currently, the two-year course provides a structured programme designed to support students with mental health issues, such as those attending ASL Mental Health Centres. In the Art Therapy field, two other possible areas of activity can be developed in the future, by entering into appropriate agreements with the relevant institutions. One that aims to provide art therapy workshops for children, with a particular focus on those with the most challenging needs. The other approach could be focused on the provision of art therapy workshops for socially disadvantaged individuals, such as marginalised people, former drug addicts, activities in prisons, etc., any public or private facility where a creative workshop dedicated to therapeutic purposes is included.
– The Art for Therapy programme is designed to train specialists who are able to plan and manage creative workshops as a support system for medical therapies, while at the same time acting independently in terms of their ability to stimulate and develop the creative talents of individual students and patients by articulating: the definition of creative objectives. Relating to creativity, as well as the organisation and management of exhibitions, as a result of the work carried out. Graduates of the school’s diploma course must: – possess adequate specialised theoretical and practical training in methods and content relating to the fields of design communication and art education; – possess specific methodological, critical and technological tools relating to the interpretation of art in general and in its contemporary complexity.
Career prospects
Second-level graduates of the school will carry out activities in various fields, as professionals capable of working independently and in synergy with operators in the sector: the Academy will organise, in agreement with ASL Roma A, the most appropriate work placements and apprenticeships to contribute to the achievement of specific professional skills.
